Meet Our Leadership Team
Mark Lahood, President
Mark Lahood is the co-founder and President of the Boutique Inn Collection, specializing in hotel operations, revenue, and asset management. With a career spanning over three decades, Mark has cultivated a reputation for optimizing hotel performance in all market conditions. His strategic approach to revenue management balances price-value considerations, market demand, customer segmentation, and inventory controls to drive results across the collection’s properties.
Mark brings extensive experience in managing urban independent boutique hotels, destination inns, and upscale lodging. His strong relationships with online travel agencies, wholesalers, and travel operators keep him attuned to emerging trends in the hospitality market.
Previously, Mark co-founded Access Hotels & Resorts, where he led hotel operations, accounting, renovations, and revenue management for properties nationwide. Earlier in his career, Mark was a principal with The Melrose Hotel Corporation and held leadership roles at Marriott and other prominent hotel companies. A graduate of Boston University’s School of Hospitality, Mark’s vision and expertise continue to elevate the Boutique Inn Collection to new heights.
Barry Caplan, Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Barry Caplan serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Boutique Inn Collection, bringing over 38 years of experience in hospitality operations, sales, and asset management. As the founder of Access Hotel and Resorts, Barry has overseen a diverse portfolio of independent and branded properties across North America and the Caribbean.
Barry’s career highlights include successfully managing the transition of high-profile assets, such as increasing the value of Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, California, by $30 million. He has been instrumental in acquiring, renovating, repositioning, and selling over $650 million in hotel real estate.
In addition to his role at Boutique Inn Collection, Barry is the founder of Access Residential Management, which manages over 50,000 residences across Florida. Barry holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University and has been recognized for his contributions to labor negotiations, sales, and operational excellence.
Benjamin Hur, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Benjamin Hur is the Chief Financial Officer of the Boutique Inn Collection. Ben’s expertise spans overseeing portfolios exceeding $1 billion in hotel real estate, leading acquisitions, and managing financial transitions for high-profile properties.
Ben has been an accounting executive in the hospitality industry for over 20 years with numerous top 50 hotel management companies in the U.S. Ben’s experience includes overseeing a portfolio of hotels as CFO, Corporate Controller, and VP of Finance. He was responsible for providing operational support and financial leadership. Ben is also a subject matter expert in implementing standard operating procedures and financial systems. Ben has reported to numerous privately held and publicly traded ownership groups. His strategic financial leadership aligns with the collection’s mission to deliver exceptional guest experiences while maximizing value for stakeholders.
Ben holds a Master’s in Business, Accounting from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and is also a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.
